Sarah Yoshiko Tatman
Violist & Violinist

Sarah Tatman is a freelance violist and violinist based in Southern California. She performs with orchestras that include San Bernardino Symphony, Santa Monica Symphony, and Music in the Mountains. She previously performed with American Youth Symphony and Lake Tahoe Music Festival Orchestra. Sarah runs a private string lessons studio in Orange County, and she is the strings teacher at Laguna Beach High School and violin coach at San Juan Hills High School. Her mother was a student of Shinichi Suzuki, and she passed that musical tradition onto Sarah at a young age.
Sarah is a certified Suzuki Method teacher, and her many students benefit from her integrative teaching approach. She is an honors orchestra judge, and she also coaches at California Capital Music Workshop and Sacramento Youth Symphony Workshop in Northern California.
Sarah is a studio musician, and she has recorded at East West Studios and Henson Studios. She is currently the violinist for the indie rock band, LA River Crossing. Sarah has performed with various music ensembles around the world, and she performed for the Dalai Lama’s 80th birthday celebration.
Sarah received her Bachelor of Music in viola performance from the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music where she studied with Hong Mei Xiao. She has also studied with Igor Veligan, Robert Becker, Ann Weaver, Peter Marsh, and Robert Becker.
